Sue Hulsether (Wisconsin) has traveled from coast to coast to lead dances in dance halls, schools, barns, and community centers. Her influence is wide, with dancers ranging from preschoolers to octogenarians, and in venues as diverse as the sidewalks of downtown Berkeley, school gyms in suburban St. Paul, street dances in rural Wisconsin, and summer camps in the mountains of Maryland. Her calling repertoire includes squares, contras, circle dances, longways whole-set dances, and play parties. And she dances with groups of all types, all ages, and all abilities.

Tony Mates Traditional music and dance have had their way with Mr. Mates for many years now and show no sign of letting up. He likes nothing better than to have a frenzy of dancers in front of him and a fine band behind. He is known for fun dances, clear delivery and general good humor. When not calling dances he is often parked behind a string bass, or maybe a guitar or a fiddle, whiling away the time with various kinds of Old Time music. He has called and taught dances at The Bluff Country Gathering, The Festival of American Fiddle Tunes, the Alaska Folklife Festival, and many more. His work with the Seattle Subversive Square Dance Society has brought square dancing back into people's living rooms; he helped produce Dare to Be Square-West (Seattle) in 2009 and 2010. He currently plays bass and sings with Trio A Propos and plays the fiddle in Peckin' Out Dough. He lives in Seattle with his wife Catherine, and their dog Bill.

Stumptown Stringband is based in Portland OR, and they are the fuel for the finest fests and dances throughout the Pacific Northwest. Front and center is Annie Staninec, whose fiery fiddling draws inspiration from old-time, bluegrass, cajun and old musical souls far and wide to bring driving rhythm to every dance. Entwined at every turn is Maggie Lind's dynamic and melodious banjo playing, drawing on a rich knowledge of old-time music and a vast repertoire of tunes, as well as years of her own square dance calling and teaching. John Kael and Patrick Lind set an undeniable groove on guitar and string bass to fill it out, and all together this band will surely put moves in your shoes and smiles on your faces.
